Sherry wine is one of the treasures of Spanish and world oenology. Try its best wines and get to know the bowels of the wineries where it is produced, signiting yourself to this Jerez wine tour. We will go to Port of Santa Maria, one of the most popular and prestigious oenological regions, along with Jerez de la Frontera and Sanlúcar de Barrameda.
We will begin by visiting the Phoenician site of Doña Blanca, where we will see the remains belonging to the oldest wineryin the West. From here we will head to a Casa Viña where we will learn about the ripening process of the vine and the collection of its fruits during the harvest period, finishing with a glass of fresh Mostot, while we relax with the beautiful views of the countryside.
Due to its geography and climate, the Port of Santa Maria is a privileged area for the aging of wines with the Denomination of Origin Jerez-Xérès-Sherry. That is why you will not miss a walk through the streets of the center, which will allow you to discover the history of this beautiful town of Cadiz.
Finally, our Sherry wine tour will take us to one of the most historic wineries, the Grant wineries, dating back to 1841. Going through its facilities we will appreciate the oldest and most traditional systems of sherry wine. Of course, we will end the visit with a glass of wine in one of its courtyards, set in typical period taverns.
NOTE: In case the Doña Blanca site is closed for reasons of force majeure, we will visit the Palace of Candia, which houses the Archaeological Museum, where we can see images and vestiges of the Lagares, belonging to the Dona Blanca site.
