You're going to love a boat ride in the Yelow Catamaran in Mahon. Mahon is the largest natural harbor in the Mediterranean Sea and the second in the world after Pearl Harbor.
Due to its strategic location, throughout history it has been the epicenter of numerous battles and conquests. It is bordered by magnificent buildings and colonial houses with a high historical value and also houses small islands and beautiful coves that give it an irresistible appeal. There are plenty of reasons to sign up for our Yelow Catamaran trip in Mahon!
We will sail on a 1-hour journey, departing from the port of Mahón. From this side we will begin to appreciate the Spanish Naval Base founded in 1708, the Anglo-American Cemetery, the Isla Plana and the Isla del Lazareto, where the old quarantine hospital operated during much of the nineteenth century, declared a Property of Cultural Interest.
During the boat tour of the Port of Mahon, you will hear recorded comments in English that will inform you about the history and anecdotes of each emblematic site observed on the journey. We will cross the Canal de Sant Jordi until reach the impressive Fortress de la Mola, the largest military complex in the Mediterranean.
We will continue to enter the crystal clear waters of Clot de La Mola, and admire from the underwater windows of the boat (subject to the weather conditions of the day), marine life and the posidonia meadows that decorate the sea floor.
We will return to the port on the south side of the coast, admiring the ruins of Fort San Felipe, Es Castell with its lovely and typical fishermen's houses by the sea (Cales Fonts), Isla del Rey, an important protected natural area with native flora and fauna of the place, the ancient Colonial Houses of the Admiral Collingwood, and the impressive Golden Farm.
We will say goodbye to the Yelow catamaran in Mahon returning to the starting point, appreciating a magical panoramic view of the old town and its beautiful cliffs.
