We will leave from your hotel in Caceres and the first visit will be to the Convento de El Palancar, considered the smallest convent in the world, founded by San Pedro de Alcántara. You will contemplate the great austerity with which the Franciscans lived in the 16th century, their cells, kitchen, refectory and cloister measuring one square meter, all in a beautiful place isolated from civilization.
We will continue towards Cáparra, an ancient Roman city on the route of the Vía de la Plata, where a 4-meter-high tetrapile arch is preserved next to the vestiges of which was a reference in the route that linked the north and south of the Iberian Peninsula. In addition, Cáparra contains an interpretation center in which the importance of the city in its time is displayed.
The next stop will be Granadilla, a town abandoned in the 1960s because the Gabriel y Galán reservoir flooded its farmland. It is currently rebuilt and declared a Historic-Artistic Site since 1980. You will visit a beautiful circular walled town, with a perfectly preserved castle tower surrounded by the waters of an immense swamp. A place of singular beauty that you will surely remember when you talk about Extremadura.
After a stop to eat (not included) and taste the typical dishes of the region, we will visit Hervás, capital of Ambroz Valley. You will walk through its perfectly preserved Jewish quarter in an environment of mountains, oaks and chestnut trees.
At the end of the visit to Hervás, we will return to Caceres.
The guide will pick you up at your hotel in Cáceres. Please, provide us the address at the time of booking.
